2013 HR/TD Council Executive Committee Election

The CUNA HR/TD Council Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the following candidates for the 2013 election.

Only current HR/TD Council members are eligible to vote, please do not forward to non-members. Non-member votes will not be counted.

Please review the campaign statements below and use the web ballot to vote for 3 of the 5 candidates.

Submit your completed ballot no later than 4 p.m. CST on March 6, 2013. Ballots received after this date will not be used in the final tabulations. The candidates receiving the top number of votes will take their seat on the executive committee in April 2013 at the conclusion of the annual conference.

I am pleased to be a candidate for a second term on your CUNA HR/TD Council Executive Committee (EC). I have been an active member on the EC over the last three years participating on the development of the HR/TD Award and Selection Committee, and most recently as the HR/TD Conference Chairman. The HR/TD Council is an invaluable resource with a wealth of information and support for HR and Training professionals. I have benefitted greatly from this council and feel privileged to be part of the leadership team charged with facilitating the direction of the council. I am a member of our Senior Management Team here at Maine Savings FCU, and have had a role in developing the strategic direction for Human Resources and Training, as well as for the entire organization. I have an MBA and a Masters in Strategic Studies along with a strong background in leadership. I believe this combination of experience and education will enable me to continue to serve you effectively as a member of the Executive Committee.

For the past five years I have been a participant on the CUNA HR/TD conference committee, where we have promoted human resources and training as strategic partners in our business. As a member on the conference committee I’ve had great opportunities to explore many aspects of HR and training. Most importantly, I have learned so much from the credit union professionals associated with the CUNA Council and made lifelong friends. Our council is the best industry-specific resource available to credit union HR/TD professionals and I would be honored to serve as a member of the Executive Committee. If elected, I will use my leadership experience and passion for our profession to contribute to our important goals and mission.

Fellow HR/TD Council Members, I'd like the opportunity to represent YOU as a proactive member of the CUNA HR/TD Executive Council. I've had the pleasure of working in credit unions for the past 8 years and the last 3 years as a member of the HR/TD Council. I have close to 40 years in the HR environment in a variety of industries. During this past three years, I have actively worked on the HR/TD Conference Committee. This has given me the opportunity to speak with many of you as well as share your comments and innovative ideas with our Council Committee Members. Many times, I simply enjoy the fellowship and networking opportunities our fantastic Council provides. I appreciate your vote and look forward to seeing you at our next conference in Anaheim, speaking to someone you have recommended for membership or exchanging an email discussing a new proposed idea. I would be honored and find it very rewarding to serve on the Executive Committee for CUNA’s HR/TD Council. I currently lead the Human Resource and Talent Management functions at Baxter Credit Union (BCU) and have been a council member for 17 years. This past year I was involved with the Membership Committee and I would welcome the opportunity to become more involved with my peers from other institutions to network, share and learn best practices.

I have my bachelor’s degree in Human Recourses, an MBA, and am a member of SHRM and World at Work. Thank you for the consideration.

I recently joined ECU as Director of Human Resources. I previously served on ECU’s Board of Directors since 2008 and was an active member of the HR and Compensation Committee. While I don’t have a traditional HR path within the credit union, I have more than 20 years of diverse Human Resources experience. I believe that I have a lot to offer the executive committee because of my experience in both Private and Public sectors in all facets of business including Retail, Distribution, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Packaging. I believe that my background and experience offer a “fresh set of eyes” coupled with a passion for HR and for the Credit Union industry.
