Member Spotlight: Karen Richey

Karen Richey is vice president of human resources and operations for Helena Community Credit Union in Helena, Montana.

“I grew up in a tiny town 30 miles from the Canadian border in Montana, went to college and got a degree in health information management,” says Karen. “I was a department head for a home care agency for several years that grew by leaps and bounds, and picked up HR by accident, doing both HR and medical records.”

As the company continued to grow Karen eventually chose to work exclusively in human resources. She received her SPHR in 1997 and worked for the home-care company for 22 years before joining Helena Community Credit Union in 1999.
